Hi All

Quick question. Does anyone know how much tax I will have to pay for working a one month winter camp?

I have heard/been told different amounts from:

A) Nothing - Apparently the law changed this year.
B) 3.3%- on a contract
C) 20% + - Internet search

I did look on the Korean tax office website, but couldn't find any info.

Thanks

If you have an ARC it is calculated according to the tax table (although most camps illegally class you as a contractor rather than employee and charge you 3.3%).

If you are non-resident the rate is/was (if I remember correctly) 27%.

Often the group running the camp don't submit anything to the tax office so it is what they take (0, 3.3 or 27%).

I will be classed as a non-resident although I have worked in Korea before.
If the camp I am at doesn't deduct tax from my pay will I get in trouble should I ever return to Korea to work again?

Only if the tax man catches them and they rat you out. Wink

Actually, no.
