I just bought a Canon A70.. I figure 3.2 megapixels is enough for me. So far it seems pretty easy to use, and hopefully it will give me some good prints.

What type of camera do you have & are you happy with it? Any extra features you wished you'd forked out for?

well...
i got the sony DC something or other 74...whatever.
It's the square camera with the rotating head.
It looks cool. That's a start.
it's 4mg pixels for 400
the biggest kick in the rump? only digital zoom. I never knew what it mean. Now i know.
I can't zoom at ALL in the highest quality mode.
GET SOME KINDA OPTICAL ZOOM PEOPLE!!!
otherwise,
camera is cool and utterly problemless. The novelty has worn off and it just sits in the craddle these days.

Have a Yashica 3.2 mp camera - just a little one, smaller than the Elphs, but it has a good zoom and excellent battery life. I'm happy with it, but next year I *hope* to get a digital SLR. Those Canon Digital Rebels look pretty slick.

I hope it has optical zoom.. I just got it recently but all the instruction books are in Korean and Japanese - fun fun

I'll get the manual online at some point I'm sure...

rocking cam though.. I only use it for basic stuff though.. I have no idea how to use all the options...

A HewlettPackard Photosmart 120, 1.0 mega-pixels. It was the cheapest one I could find at Target in the U.S.

A $100 camera to send snapshots to the folks at home works for me just fine.

Good decision.. a lot of people will never use the power of their cameras & a camera similar to that would do them fine.

I want to print out my shots though, so I figured I need at least 2-3 megapixels.

Same goes for Computers I guess, we buy these expensive kick-arse machines, and then use them to surf the web and thats it!

Olympus c4000 for me. Used it to take photos such as my avatar. I'm still learning so a digital was the perfect choice for me. Saves me so much on processing.

Minolta s404 4 MP...a great deal at $325 at the time. 5x optical zoom and good software. Downside it's not as small as I'd like it and it takes 4 AA rechargeable batteries. Awesome pics, awesome price.

Canon Power Shot A70. Best bang for your buck if you're an amateur looking for a good point and shoot and lots of manual options if you decide you want to get a little more sophisticated.

Got my girlfriend the Exilim-Z3. 3.2 megapixel -- friggin' best combination of small and quality I'd seen http://exilim.casio.com/3d.htm, although there's a 4 megapixel version out now that I'll likely pick up for myself one of these days.

I'm picking up the Canon IXUS 400 (also known as the S400 elsewhere) very soon.

It's got a solid design, better than the previous Elph style digitals, 4MP (which is admittedly overkill for me), and uses SD media. The size means I'll be using it almost everywhere, it can take 3 minute movies, and it actually *LOOKS* like a camera. It's a weird thing, but I like my cameras to look like a camera, not a PDA with a lens.. :)

Battery life is reasonable, but definitely picking up a spare or two for the Japan leg of my journey.

I agree with the opinions of the A70, a near perfect camera for amateur photographers who are looking for an interim step before they shell out a few gorillas for a digital SLR.

On that note, the Canon 300D looks fantastic value for money if you're in the market for a low-mid end DSLR.

jae.

I think price should be added into everyone's posts.

You bought an u/w housing?
What about an external u/w flash?
How much did it all set you back?
