Went to Daegu immigration yesterday to renew my visa.

They required....
-application
-contract
-ARC
-passport
-30,000 won
-50,000 won (multiple entry)

Waited for maybe ten minutes.
Handed back my passport and arc with everything completed in under 5 minutes.

Someone said last week (ttompatz?) that this would be the case if I was INVITED (APPOINTED?) to work in EPIK. Guess I was. No CRC, VSS. Easy peasy.

Were no HIV and TBPE test results required?

I'm also with EPIK and had to provide them to renew.

They require a CRC when you first apply. After that, there is no need if you are staying with EPIK.

If you were hired as an invitee (letter of invitation instead of a visa confirmation number) by EPIK (or GEPIK or SMOE) then you already submitted one when you first applied for the job. It usually does NOT need to be done a 2nd time if you are renewing/extending.

It NOW, in fact, appear as though you WILL need a new CRC if you change jobs / do a visa run / get a new visa (even though immigration originally claimed that it would only need to be done once).

Did you deal with the female immi officer (can't remember her name), by chance?

My last two visits to Daegu immi were much like you described. I don't think I've ever dealt with a more pleasant or efficient government employee in any country.

THE female officer? Yesterday I dealt with A female. Nice lady. Very helpful. Today I went back to take care of family visas and register my newborn son, and I met with a guy. Lanky fellow, thinning hair, reminded me of a childhood (caucasian) friend. He was also quite helpful and told me when I came back with his passport, to try and get him, cause he knows my case now, and could expedite it. I registered my son with only a birth certificate, so it's a pending file. Nice guy.

Oops, my wife needs the computer....

Was any word mentioned about the liver count?

No mention of the liver count. From the time I handed him my documents, to the time I had my ammended ARC and visa added passport (multiple entry) in my hand, was about 4 minutes. No time to check all that stuff.....and he's not a doctor to boot, so he wouldn't be interpreting test results.

....Now that doesn't mean a month from now, some jackass is going to call me up and say I have a problem....

I wrote "THE" female immi officer because I've only ever seen ONE female immi officer at Daegu immi. She's the definite article.

Have you dealt with more than one female officer there? Just wondering.

Trust me, they did the liver test. If you had abnormally high AGT or AST they would have either made a big note of it or told you to come back in two weeks after abstaining from alcohol. The liver test is standard for every job in Korea. It shows alcohol abuse or hepatitis problems. Doctors don't let it slide.

Well, I suffered from the same problem. They didn't say anything much about it to me at all. It was noted on my medical form. They took my paperwork and are sending my ARC to me within 10 days. They didn't seem concerned at all. The doctor told me to stop drinking for a week. Immigration said they would just issue the card and I should try to take care of it.

This is new (and discouraging). Details, please.

2 cases, first hand experience - one at the Suwon office and the other from the Seoul (Nokdong office). Both ended their employment before the 9 month mark and were required to submit a COMPLETE set of documents again INCLUDING the CRC for a new visa application.

They WERE allowed to do a visa run to Japan.
