sorry if this has been beaten to death...not sure...don't have the time to look through all the threads. ANYWAY...how much are these tests? one of my co-workers had this done and it was 90,000 W.

I paid about 70,000 for the medical exam that consisted of both of those tests and about 12 others. I'm in Seoul. |

I did the tests seperatly (i forgot about the TBPE test, and had to do it about 6months later...obviously wasn't a priority).
First test about W20,000 (HIV, TB, and drug)
TPBE test, W10,000.
Both tests done in Suwon, (different hospitals though). |

I live in northern Gyeonggido. I have an E-2 work visa but I don't yet have an Alien Registration Card (ARC). It's my understanding I have to get a physical, a drug test, and an STD test done in order to obtain an ARC. Where can I go to have this done, i.e., a specific hospital or physician's name and location? Also, is there any specific paperwork that I need give to the doctor to fill out? If so, then what's it called and where can I get it, e.g., on the Korean Immigration's website -- can you provide a link to the page with the form -- or at Uijeongbu Immigration? Thanks in advance. |

The easy way to go is SNUH (Seoul National University Hospital) because they speak perfect English and do the test daily for foreigners. It cost 90,000, which was up from the 70,000 that I paid 6 months ago. (I guess that's inflation)
I had the whole routine: blood, urine test, chest x-ray, color blindness test, vision test, height, weight measurements and physician interview. They offered a few other versions for less money. You can visit the SNUH website, see what I'm talking about, and get the phone number if you want to make an appointment . Actually, I don't think I needed all those tests, but my academy made the appointment. Anyway, it only took about 45 minutes, and they were able to see me the same morning I made the appointment.
What I'm ticked about is Immigration still has my passport. They said it takes 10 business days to make my ARC. As I recall, the last time was only 3 days. What up with that? |

Has anyone ever failed one of these?
What happens if the school sees something they don't like? |

So it looks like you paid 90,000 won for a physical. What about the HIV test, TB test, drug test, and TPBE test? |

Yep, the blood and urine were probably just for a physical. Nothing to do with HIV or drug tests. |
