I'm doing a writing class. The levels range from semi-fluent all the way down to "Konglishee" only. It's pretty hard bridging the gap without losing some students, and since the class is %100 female, I'm afraid anything I would like in terms of entertainment content would just alienate them.

Last week we did some Mr. Bean, a really damned funny one too, and I couldn't even get a chuckle. The week before that we did some picture descriptions which they seemed to enjoy, but I think it was mainly because of the novelty of having alone time with the foreign teacher.

So yeah, looking for something fun, entertaining and time consuming revolving around a movie clip (preferrably) or a music video. Any suggestions for movie clips to show to teenage girls? What would be a good writing assignment to go with it?

Thanks.

What about showing them the music video for "Perfect Day" then they can write about their perfect day. These links might help.

Without a doubt this will work.

If you want to show the original story/animation which inspired the video. Go to www.nfb.ca and click animation and then George and Rosemary. ah heck, faster if I do it!

http://www.nfb.ca/animation/objanim/en/films/film.php?sort=title&id=16945

Then get them to rewrite the story. First they do an 8 boxer. (fold an A4 into 8 boxes , they write one sentence to describe the events in each. After, they do a first draft using those sentences as starters, topic sentences). This will work. Brainstorm vocab and write main vocab on the board....

Cheers,

PS. We have a much better audio quality of the Mr. Morton in our A/V player. This one stinks and the old one on youtube was deleted due to copyright...this one will be eventually also Smile
