1) I would go sit on the beach under the shade of a nipa hut.

2) Watch the waves roll in and the coconuts grow.

3) Because the world economy is in the tank so it is not worth running back home to be old and unemployed or be entrepreneurial and start everything all over again and I can't think of any good reason to stay here working. Time to retire to the beach.

I just ran off back to the US. It's hard to decide what to do next. I have a few choices, they all look good. I could stay in America, or go to another country. The unstable economy makes the decision even harder. The US is nice and comfortable, but a little bit too nice and comfortable.

It mostly depends on our individual situations I guess.

I'm not going back to Korea though. The fact that I basically pulled a runner probably makes it so i'm blacklisted. But I don't care Smile

One place for another. Hmmm.. how long would that last?

TRAVEL THE WORLD until my savings run out (about a year or two I suspect, less if much time spent in Europe); GO BACK TO GRAD SCHOOL and enjoy being a student again, the worst that could happen is to get another philosophy degree, any advance degree boosting english language teaching jobs so it's not like there's no going back; or, OPEN A BUSINESS like a bar on a beach, something low pressure, little capital outlay and enjoyable day-to-day relaxing work.

Poll options woulda been nice to pick and choose from.

I do, and it is a good situation. But I also have the temptation to keep travelling pulling at me. And I've got a great hook up at a school in South America that pays pretty well.

So it's a choice between a stable and predictable American life. Or more travel and adventure.

If you choose the former, you are a loser. Go get married and spit out some babies. That is all.

A big part of me is thinking that same thing. After travelling around Asia, the US feels very boring and lacking in adventure.

But, I will be living in a new city in a new part of the US, so it will be a fresh experience for sure. Also my cash supply is running a little low right now, so I probably should just ground myself here for a little while.

The key is to just not get tied down I guess. Be ready to shift gears and change your mind if the situation calls for it.

I'm curious to know (I've read your other threads): What made you come here in the first place, and if your time here was such a miserable failure, what makes you want to do another stretch abroad? Why should that experience be any different?

OB/OT: If I had to leave today, I'd probably head to Shanghai and room with a buddy for a while until I can get a job and a visa somewhere. I don't see any singular reason to leave Sparkling at the moment. It's a gorgeous day.
