I'm quitting my public school and have found another job. I gave my two months' notice already, but still need to get a LOR from GEPIK so I can transfer my visa. Do I need to try to get this a.s.a.p., or can I do it the Korean way and wait until the last possible minute? |

Get it ASAP. They probably won't know WTF you're talking about if you ask them, so it's better to get a head start. |

Agreed. If you start pushing for it now, you'll get it at the last minute. If you start pushing for it at the last minute, you'll shoot yourself in the leg.
I asked for my letter of release two months in advance, got it two days before I started at my next school. I gently reminded them once or twice a week all the way. |

If you are on good terms with the school, you might want to wait. As I understand it, you only have 14 days after the date on the LOR. You have to get all that other paperwork, and what happens if your CRC or medical check paperwork doesn't come when expected? You'll have to get another, but if the previous school reports it to immigration then you lose that chance.
I waited until all of the rest got sorted, then the school sent a LOR by bus to the recruiter and the recruiter did the same to the new school. It was rushing it, but it only takes 1 or 2 days that way. Much easier to eat away 2 days out of 14 when you know you got everything else than be on the other side and worry on the 12th day if your other paperwork will come in.
Good luck either way though. |
