In my time(1999-2002) anyang il bon ga(the shopping area in front of anyang station) was happenin'. We used to just go there on the weekend and rarely went to seoul. Big fish small pond logic at play. There are tons of english teachers in Anyang and at that time everyone went downtown to drink on the weekend. From what I can gather, now all the teachers hang out in Pyeongchon, the neighborhood that has all the hagwans. Get off the train at Anyang Stn(line 1) or Bomgye(line4) and wander around. You will find something to your liking

I've been to Psycho. If you like dingy, grimy bars that look and feel like a student union bar, then you'll love it.
I lived near Anyang for a year and my overall impression is that it's a bit of a toilet.

If your a boring yuppie you will hate Psycho. If your are looking to party you will like Psycho.

Anyang Ilbanga is fun, Beomgye is fun and Sanbon is also fun.

Meh. Psycho is just like X bar in X city back home. You'll like it if you or your inner child is in the 18-24 range.

I spent three hours there on Saturday and while I had a good time, I'm not going back anytime soon Laughing

There's this place called Uncle Don's somewhere in Anyang- I can't give you specific direction, I've only went a couple of times. They have Janga and a fooz ball table and free salsa on fridays!! Also, there is MC hip hop. To call it "good" would be misrepresenting it somewhat, but foreigners do go there and do get drunk there. I have been there maybe seven times and there has not been one morning after I have not felt a deep sense of regret and/or shame: good times! Bar Ten in Beomgye is full of foreigners and they have a somewhat lame fire show. Oh, and the bartenders are hot. There is also Atlanta Bar where the owner takes all sorts of semi-obscure music requests and you can get free popcorn!
