Hi,
I know the topic has been done to death, but I live far away from Yongsan and don't want to waste a day going there for nothing.
I'm wondering if any of you have obtained a working copy of SMG or SSBB in English from Yongsan. I have a modified Japanese Wii, and the guy I bought it from didn't think to ask what chip was installed. Have you recently been re-chipped or found a worked-around copy of either game at Yongsan? |

This might not help in the slightest but I have both games working on the Korean Wii.
I bought Galaxy in Yongsan and burnt SSBB myself. |

How much are burnt games to buy?
I just wonder if it's worth downloading and burning myself? |

Word on the street has burnt games going for 10,000 won each.
Most games are worth DLing and burning yourself. |

Is it really easy to avoid bricking your machine? |

Thus, the reason I started this thread...
Google "Brickblocker" and there's a tiny program that makes a game safe from bricking your machine. The downside is that some games - like this one - have a little something written into the code that prevents you from playing. You just get a white screen until you restart your Wii. Clever move, but someone has worked around it by now. I just haven't found out how. |

Not entirely true. If you play a game that is newer than the said game (from your region), it doesn't usually matter that you removed the software from a game like SuperMario Galazy or Mario Kart (I played a pal version and removed the software update) |

So...all I have to do is DL the PAL version and convert it? I tried the US version several different ways and finally gave up. I took the update out of another Japanese game (Warioland Shake It....it's a hoot), so it might work. |

Well, it all depends on the newest game that you have played on your Japanese wii (with japanese software on the game)..
So if there was a japanese game with a software update on it that was released AFTER SMG, you download that one, and let you machine take the update (cause it is impossible to brick a machine using a game from teh same region).. after that.. download SMG (american should work), use brick blocker, and regiifree (sp?) to change the dvd region coding to Japan. It SHOULD be sufficient. |
