Anyone have a approx cost of the train from Beijing to Tibet, and the frequency of the trains.
I've only been able to find tour groups going to Tibet, and I dont want a tour group, I just want my visa, and a train ticket.
I'm also looking for price, and information about going from Tibet to Kathmandu. |

i'm going to be taking this trip sometime soon, also. this is supposedly the official website for the lhasa express. it has rates from beijing and alternate cities within china to tibet. click on fares & schedules for more details.
sorry i can't be of more help with the nepal leg. |

it looks like the airways to lhasa are dominated by chinese owned airlines (big surprise there). china air, china eatern, china southern, and sichuan air have flights that run between lhasa and other major cities, including kathmandu. hopefully you can find a cheap one. the ones i saw advertised online for around january were extremely expensive - around 800,000 won. they will surely be cheaper through a travel agent, or in person at the ticket office. you never know, though. that five day bus ride could be a vacation in itself. i'd genuinely consider it if i were going during the correct season. |
