|
|
back home, i let it go... god gave me hair, so i let it grow... here, not so sure...
my question: in general, do korean girls find it attractive or repulsive? i've seen maybe one or two kdudes with beards (sporadic and mangy), but never a younger dude... and never foreigners... is clean shaven a better bet (tho i hate my tiny face when i do this)? |

i grew a beard one fall at my last job on Geoje and was surprised at how good its reception was, positive comments from coworkers and friends and over half my students. after growing it for four months and it was quite a full bushman beard i actually documented the votes of my students as to whether i should keep my beard or shave it and almost 70% voted to keep it! i shaved it just before the spring. i didn't date any korean women but i noticed on the street i seemed to get more smiles with the beard, but also more scared looks.
then i grew another beard here at my present job in a small town between october and the end of the year my first year here two years ago and again my director and his wife reacted positively, the students fascinated and pleased more than anything. a korean woman my age who works at the bakery and used to live in France called it 'sexy' and i got a lot more 'handsome' comments. in general i think it made me look more distinguished, like a professor, especially since i wear suits to work. sean connery references were nice to get.
overall, i was surprised at how well my beards were received in both places, not quite what i expected (I had waaay more negative responses the two times back in canada i grew beards)
i suspect that beards on a waygook just adds to our exoticness, and if it makes one look older that feeds the respect for age factor.
but as for dating korean women, can't help you there. |

| Depends if your beard looks good or not. If it looks like you are an extra from Lost, then it's probably not a good idea to grow it. |

| I have a beard. Keep it well groomed and neat. I have had nothing but positive responses since being in Korea. |

same as above
I have a neat beard, and have always just received compliments about from the few people who have remarked at all. Most people seem not to think / care about it at all. |

| Don't forget to shave the hair of your nads, k-girls don't like that. They also don't like poor people so you better go pick up a benz. Oh and an Armani suit with a pink tie and a man bag, they'll be swooning over you |

| I'm lazy, so I often don't shave for 3 or 4 days. Every K-girl I've dated has made negative comments encouraging me to shave. They've all claimed to hate facial hair. |

How's your beard doing?
Korean girls don't like beards!
The so called compliments all ya beard growing dudes have been getting were not compliments at all. They just wanted to practice their English. "Nice beard" "Nice shirt" "Nice nose" are all the same.
OP, if that was a serious question, I feel for you. You're obviously not sailing the great seas of confidence and self-esteem like DA MAN.
If you wanna grow a beard, grow a beard! But with a great beard comes great consequences! Remember, you were warned! |

From my experience, it's a resounding NO.
Guys, correct me if I'm wrong. I've only been here for a couple of months, but from what I've seen, it's like they've never bothered even trimming. I've seen 3-4 inch long pubes.
It doesn't bug me much though, since before coming to Korea, I had a Chinese girlfriend back in Canada. |

I use to have a longish goatee once upon a time. I never recall having a problem with the women because of it, but I did hear many people tell me they thought I should shave it, even women that seemed more than interested in me despite it.
When I did shave it off, I didnt notice any difference with women's attraction, but no one ever told me I should grow it back |

Resounding NO! Except for the really westernized ones. The ones that make you uncomfortable when you think about how a) their English is so good. b) how they picked up this trait. |

Korean chicks don't like facial hair. Bosses don't seem to like it either, but the main thing is to shave the morning of one of those parent days when all the moms come to the hagwon. When I'm in Korea and not at work, I like to wear my shirts unbuttoned a third of the way. Korean chicks seem to not like that, but they seem to warm up to chest hair really quickly when the shirt is totally off. I think it's because they might expect me too be sort of hedgehoggish before my shirt is off, but it ends up just being my chest and a happy trail.
Filipina chicks hate facial hair the most. They HATE it.
Vietnamese chicks love facial hair the most of any east Asian nationality.
Black chicks in America love facial hair, but white chicks in America don't. The white chicks say I look like Tommy Lee when I shave, but say I look like a terrorist when I have a beard. So, I usually just go with designer stubble when I'm in America in an effort to keep all American women wet.
To the guy who asked about Korean chicks shaving... I've never seen it, ever. But I haven't seen them all and feel like I need to do more research on the matter. |
