Hello everybody,

I am in Korea on an E-2 visa, and I need to get a visa for my wife so that she can come here. As far as I know, that would be an F-3 visa.

My wife is from the Philippines, by the way.

Has anyone been through this process before? What documents do I need to prepare here in Korea? And what documents does she need to prepare in the Philippines? She already has a passport. And she also did the CFO seminar, but her certificate says "USA." Does she need to do another seminar for Korea?

Also, she lives in Cebu. Can the Korean consulate in Cebu handle this process, or does she need to make the trip to Manila?

Much appreciated.

BEFORE she can leave the Philippines she will need a CFO Guidance and Counseling certificate issued by the Philippine government put into her passport. http://www.cfo.gov.ph/

Then.....

IN KOREA:

You go to the immigration office to apply for her visa confirmation number.

You need:
YOUR ARC
YOUR passport
YOUR certificate of employment (proof of employment)
certified copy of the marriage certificate (AND a copy of the same (both sides)).
printed scan or copy of HER passport information page.
application form (from the counter in the immigration office)

The application is free. It typically takes a week to process.

AFTER you get the visa confirmation number you will send it to her.

She will take that, along with her:
passport,
2 passport sized photos,
(prior to the meltdown) 2500 pesos
and an application (available at the Korean embassy in Manila (Makati).

It typically takes 4-7 days for processing in Manila.

She picks up her passport from the embassy and gets on a plane to come here.

You pick her up at the airport and give her a big kiss hello.
Get on the bus and go home.

All done.
