now that I finally got my bank account set up, there's a mysterious new charge for 2000something won. My boss explained it as "unemployment insurance" that is mandatory once you have a bank account set up. I thought that was what pension was for.
WTF? |

As a foreigner on an E2 you are EXEMPT from it (since you cannot legally collect benefits). Call the labor office (tel:1350).

So now the question, are they charging me because they want to pocket that money or are they just confused?
All I have to dial on the phone is those four digits? No area code, nothing?
Is it different from a cell phone? Will someone speak English?
Thanks so much!! |

| Strange thing about this is that refund deal. I didn't apply for it, but I remember others saying that if you wanted this 240 buck or whatever it is refund, you needed to have contributed to the employment/unemployment insurance deal. |
