I've just arrived here in Suwon and I've met a few cool people but I'm hoping to meet a few more. Other posts about Suwon seem to have dried up, so I can't tell if those people are still here. Love to hear from you, especially if you're a new arrival or near the Sports Complex. |

If you're in town this weekend (Fri or Sat) how about a beer or five? I only know a few places, like WA-Bar near Manseok and the Crazy Duck (though don't know how to get there). |

I live between Suwon st and Ingyedong, been in Suwon over a year. I know Ingyedong pretty well, and Crazy Duck is there, but foreigner bars aren't my preference. |

I've been in Suwon less than three weeks but I've been to the Duck twice. I think it is what it is. Know what I mean? If you've been here a year, you could probably tell me how to take a cab there. Is it close to Galleria? |

My two buddies who just left Korea lived in Suwon for a year. I used to call "Suwon, the Las Vegas of Korea." Even had some t-shirts made up for them. Long story short? Suwon is alright for some drinks. It's got a small town feel to it. I'm from Seoul and used to travel down there to visit them a couple times a month. I prefer the big city though.
Check out the Kiss bar for some pretty ladies depending on the night.
There's also a bar I used to go to that served beer in mugs entirely made of ice. Afterwards you threw it at a target and if you hit it, you had the potential to win free food or beer. I'll try and find the name of it. Maybe it's even the Crazy duck Mochi mentioned. It's a decent place.

ask the taxi driver to go to suwon kbs drama centre. you will see lots of wee streets and bright lights. walk up the one with a corner restaurant and a gs25 opposite it. crazy duck is on the right hand side with the big fish tanks outside.
there are lots of bars about suwon station which are alright.
if you want a foreigner bar then go to the Now bar in yeongtong near Homeplus. you wouldnt think you were in korea there are so many foreigners, especially on a friday night. |

I have to disagree with this point.
In my opinion, Suwon feels like a big city, moreso than any other city in Korea (Seoul, excluded), and for the most part feels a lot like Seoul.
I'd base this on a couple of things.
1. It's the 8th biggest city, just over a mill people.
2. Of the Gyeonggi cities it is the only major one that is an "old" city, and thus has alot of charm. Ansan, Seongnam (Bundang) and Goyang (ilsan) etc are all "new" cities and have a very generic feel to them.
3. Probably the biggest one. Suwon has the third highest population density of all cities in Korea (Seoul, and Bucheon? are the top 2). With the central 'gu, Paldal-gu being more densely populated than most Gu's in Seoul and feels like much of Seoul.
I guess this all depends on where you are, if you are on the outskirts or in a newly developed neighborhood (esp, Yoengtong) it can feel a little bit small town and somewhat generic, however I've found that Suwon maintains a lovely balance of old and new, offering all the amenities of a major city while still retaining the old charm (for want of a better word). |

Are there any new Suwonees interested in going to Itaewon sometime? Some people who have been here a bit longer, I think, are less interested, but everyone says that you must go at least once. |
