Following on from withnail's theme of football/teaching comparison

The Manchester United

Although mainly based in Europe, has links all around the world, particularity in Asia. The school has grown since installing a no nonsense manager 20 years ago. Consistent performer in school league tables, although currently slightly off colour. Recently taken over by an American company, although now saddled with their debts.

Ah well, no worries.

We could have carried the comparisons going ad infinitum.... referees/immigration officials, supporters/parents... Razz

They would be the Detroit Lions or Arizona Cardinals. Team that, like Korea, never get it quite right. Poor management, terrible decision making and lack of looking long term have doomed the above teams and Korea as well. Perhaps a Korean hagwon would like to sign up Matt Millen to teach Englishee? Another thing, those teams, like Korea, never learn from past mistakes...they just keep repeating them. Wink

Leeds Utd: Invest massively, build new building, count on growth to other countries, but totally fail to perform in the classroom and go into insolvency.

FC Porto: Small school that somehow consistantly manages to outperform and makes massive income. When demand excedes supply clients are sold off to bigger schools.

PSG: Formerly huge school that's been in the shits for about a decade but still believes it's a big name and will eventually rise to stardom again.
