Greetings animal lovers,
A few days ago a dog made his way into my school. As you can imagine, this created quite a stir among the students! The school janitor put him in the maintenance room and it soon became clear that NOBODY was going to do anything about this dog. I took him home at the end of the day.
I put up some signs in the neighborhood, but the owner hasnt come forward. My school is on a mountainside, so it seems more and more apparent that he was taken to the mountain and abandoned.
When I took him home, we gave him a bath and took him to the local animal hospital. He had an infection in his left eye which is clearing up with medicine and were getting the results of the blood tests today. He seems to be in good health and hes been neutered, so Im assuming hes received vaccinations, but if the doctor says any further vaccinations are necessary well take care of that ourselves.
Hes a small Maltese, around three kilos. The vet figures hes around four years old. Its difficult to make a call on his character because we dont know him very well yet, but hes a happy dog (but not yippy and yappy). He also appears to be housetrained and he understands some basic Korean commands.
My wife and I already have a cat which we took in from the street; hes not particularly happy about having a new houseguest, so were trying to find somebody to take in the dog. If you're willing to adopt him, wed be happy to transport him to anywhere on the mainland (if youre not in the Gyeonggido/Seoul area).
If youd like to see some pictures, you can click these links. (You can see the infection in his left eye in the first picture, and the happy character in the second.)

If you can help us out by taking in this dog, we'd really appreciate it.
Thanks for reading. |

You can put some info up on Korean websites for lost and found dogs as well. Someone might be looking for the dog there. |

You know, it's amazing. Another guy had a very similar-looking dog he'd found wandering outside in South Seoul. He had it shaved bald about a month ago, and put an ad up here. I remarked how it looked so similar to the dog I had seen wandering around in my neighborhood. Either this same dog has been traveling the country like a fruitcake, or ... Koreans must have some thing against this style of dog!
Actually, it's a bit bigger than the other two, but it's a funny story. |

We've covered that angle. Where we live city hall provides some money for one of the bigger animal hospitals to board lost animals (for a few days) and there's a website for residents to check if they've lost their pet. So far nobody has come forward. (His time at the hospital is up tomorrow, so he'll be back in with us.) We've also visited all the animal hospitals in our half of the city, but none of the vets or staff recognized him and nobody had posted anything saying that they'd lost him. We're thinking somebody just threw him out. It happens a lot - some of the vets said so themselves - and it looks more and more like that's what has happened.

Thanks. I knew about that website - I'm waiting for my account to be activated.

Yep, it happens a lot. Hey, by the way, I thought you were moving into a nice big new place. Surely you've got enough room for a dog! |

Neither the wife nor I have time for a pet. We both work crazy long hours. |

A health update: he has received an general vaccine (but I'm not sure exactly for what), vaccinations for measles, parvovirus and rabies, some kind of medicine for parasites and a heartworm check. |
