Was having a discussion about the percentage of people who stay for a full contract. Barring school closures, out of any given 10 people how many do you think make it to the end of the first year?

I will take a wild stab in the dark and say that about 3 out of 10 make it through a whole year at a hogwon. University/Company jobs usually have better conditions (and 'post-hogwon' teachers) so the stay rate is much higher, around 85%.

I'd say 7/10 make it to the end of their first year. Of that 7, 3 return for another year. Of that 3, 2 make it through the second, and one of them will stay on yet longer....

I'd guess 50% or less of first timers make it to the end of their first contract and I'm thinking specifically hagwon workers here. I think the number signicantly increases for those taking out their second, third (etc.) contracts, (80~90%?) especially for those who move from the hagwons into University positions.

Speaking as a seasoned hagwon vet. . I'd say at least 7 of 10 make it through the first year. Lots of people do the run- but they tend to run to another school and finish out a year there.

I'd estimate 90% in Sokcho & maybe a third of them re-contract.

I have no idea. I know that it's a shame that a lot of people quit because they have a bad job and then they end up witha bad image of Korea. I hope most people are smart enough to separate the two.
