so my school is having me teach an english class for the teachers. i've been told it will be small and that i "shouldn't be nervous". right. i'm just barely getting the hang of teaching kids. so has anyone worked at a public school, i'm with gepik, and had to do this? surely some of you have, and i've also heard that they kind of break up after awhile because the teachers get busy. i guess i just need ideas for getting started and how i should run it. i'm assuming they want it to be more conversational, but something tells me i can't just sit around and chat with them about whatever in english. although i wouldn't have to deal with a lesson plan that way....anyways, thoughts, advice, experience, something to point me in the right direction would be helpful. thanks all |

There are a lot of activities that you'll find useful and you can structure a lesson plan around the material. The articles also give you a good foundation to base a conversation around.
Generally you'll find less and less teachers will attend the class, especially as final exams approach. I hated teaching parent and teacher classes last year. I made an after school program for my students this year just so I don't have to deal with the adults who, for the most part, don't want to be there to begin with. A lot of the teachers will feel pressure from the VP to attend. |
