Looking to do some reading up on Japan, and forums are a great way. I know this has been mentioned in posts before, but the search option doesn't like me tonight.
Anyone know where the Japan ESL/expat forum is?

Although they are typically, believe it or not, more cynical than here. |

Dave's Japan is a dying forum. It doesn't have nearly the amount of traffic it used to have. I think gaijinpot is better. http://www.gaijinpot.com/bb/ |

the problem with Gaijinpot in particular is that it`s sometimes hard to find accurate info on certain companies.......by that I mean companies that advertise on gaijinpot. Anything negative or a slightly negative word said against those companies results in automatic deletion of the thread......there are many sketchy Ekaiwas(hagwons) over there also but people still get screwed because of the thread nazis. Gaijinpot has way more activity but you`ll probably get more accurate answers on Dave`s Japan |

There are so many TOOLS on Daves Japan Forum. Just a very anal-retentive bunch of folk. TOOLski (err...Glenski) is the worst.
I've been to gaijinpot, it is a bit better, but you still have TOOLski (err...Glenski) with five million posts over there answering TOOLISHLY to each and every posted thread.
I'll have to check out bigdaikon.com, I haven't heard of that one. |

I've read many of his posts and he seems helpful and friendly to me. What are some of the bad things he's done? |

I think I do recall you inquiring about jobs over there, and yeah, Glenski is helpful about answering that question many times over (I see him respond to those all the times positively with strong discouragement of the person trying for jobs in Japan, but positive about it). But if you are in Japan, and ask a newbie type question, he'll go into research mode and fire back multiple links for you to read and quickly reprimand you for asking, I've seen him do that MANY MANY TIMES over there. |
