What's with all these fighter jets in the sky recently? They go really fast and then whistle like a bomb dropping, because they go into decent really fast. Whistle and roar. They've been doing it for 3 hours now and been increasing activity over the past week. I just wonder what they are doing and why they are doing it.

I'm in Gangwondo so it must be fighter jet maneuvers territory right now. Anyone else notice increased military maneuvers?

Anyone in Shillim dong? Why were there a bunch of soldiers with old looking rifles there today?

I also heard jets today overhead as I was out in the village schools in Jeollabukdo Province.

I never heard them before out in the hills like I did today. It was a little scary to me. I thought it was omninous - of what - who knows?

The whole place is risky.

They have big practice sessions for air force pretty regularly, like every year I think, and they also call in their reservists every now and again as well. I wouldn't read too much into it.

It's always good to remember, though, that it COULD happen. It'd be a profitless slaughter for both sides though so I don't think anybody will make the first move.

Hopefully.

But yeah, honestly, I have noticed a bit more jet action lately, to tell the truth.

They are on maneuvers. Don't worry about it.

If there ever is a war, it won't be North Korea they will fight, but rather Japan.

I've noticed the civil defense drills are occurring more regularly (ie. most 15ths) since 2MB took over. I think a lot of it has to do with 2MB being more old school and not bending over backwards for Lil' Kim like 'I bought a Nobel Prize' Kim Dae Jung and 'No more hope' Roh Mu-hyun did.

Bear in mind the Norks announced last week that they would announce sometime in the future some important news. My bet is that the Dear Leader has died and they're maneuvering behind the scenes and waiting for the appropriate moment to pass on the news. Chances are the US and ROK defense forces know more than us what's going on and perhaps they're ramping up the exercises in preparation for the upcoming possible chaos if Kim Jong-il has actually died.

I have been thinking the same thing. Good to hear your thoughts.

Funnily enough I was surprised to see what looked like TA's/reservists running around my school track this afternoon.... it seemed odd to me in an elementary school

North Korea has like around 100 missiles aimed at us as we speak.
There wouldn't be much of a war.

What I've heard through the grapevine is that a Nork diplomat defected to a Western Country and so they wanted to keep tight tabs on the rest of them - that's why they told them all to stay at their posts...
(No way to completly verify until something is announced, but I trust the source)
