Does anybody here have any expereince getting their CRC from the state of Texas from here in Korea?

I'm switching employer (public to hagwon) and the hagwon is under the impression that I need the CRC from the State DPS(Highway Patrol) with the apostille from the Texas AG.

That might be and I know I heard about the apostille/CRC issue several months ago but I also know that when I renewed my contract here for a 6 month extension I had a CRC mailed to me from Harris County Clerk's office, took it down to the US Embassy, they notarized it and that was good enough at Immigration in Uijongbo to get my visa extended.

I just Googled 'criminal background checks in state of Texas' and noticed that there's a state site(i.e. the DPS) from which apparently I can get one for just a few bucks but there's other sites, commercial entities, from which it seems I can get one for a cost of $19-35.

Is one or either of those the places I need to get it?

And if I do get it there, what's involved with the 'apostille' thing? I've seen very little discussion of that here. Relative to Texas, can it be done from here?

Is there any chance that those people at Uijeongbo Immi were just 'nice' to me when I had it done 6 months ago with only my mailed document from Harris County? And maybe I could go there and get it done again?

It's kinda frustrating to be told you have to do something but not be given any information on how to do it.

Best regards,

I guess I got this question answered, or maybe validated, on the CRC sticky thread on "Jobs". After reading that, I'm thinking that the Director/Owner of the hagwon where I'm probably going simply doesn't know the 'latest' variation or 'workaround' of the rule.

Immigration will not accept anything without an apostille certificate, and will not accept a private CRC, not anymore.
