Sorry guys, I know this thread will be on here somewhere but the search function didn't prove to useful in retrieving it...

I'm keen to get a cellphone for a 6 night stay... I'm arriving around midday on Thursday 30th... can I just rock up to the mobile rental booth at Incheon or do I have to book a phone? Any recommendations for a company?

Also... I'm staying in Itaewon.... I'm sure there's some facility around there for renting a mobile... would I be better off hiring from a vendor in Itaewon?

don't quote me on this but I think I heard somewhere that the airport rental's rates aren't good compared to what you can rent at a LGT/SKT/KTF stores outside of the airport.

someone please confirm this.

So the consensus would be that I can rent a cellphone either at Incheon Airport or in Itaewon without an advanced booking?

If so, any idea of the typical daily / weekly rate for rental?

I rented a phone when I first got here. If memory serves me right it was through SK. The rental rate was $3 per day for the first two weeks and then I think it drops to $2 per day. Outgoing calls were $2.65 per min (international) and I think $1.30 per min for local. Incoming is free.

Btw, I've been here about two months so those rates are probably what you can expect. I do believe there was a coupon floating around one of the tourist websites. It was something like 1/2 off the daily rental fee. Maybe you can call and get the specifics.
