Hi,
Just had a quick question - would greatly appreciate any info/advice anyone might be able to give.
My wife and I are thinking of taking a year out of our normal lives, and spending it in Korea, where one of us would teach English, and the other look after our two young children.
We've spent some time in Korea before, so understand the general environment. But my question relates to our employability, and accommodation. Would our situation make us less attractive to the average employer? And if we wanted a 3 bedroom place, I guess we'd have to find it ourselves? Roughly how much would that cost, say in Busan or Daegu?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Regards,
Tim |

Tim,
My husband and I are getting ready to go to Korea (just after thanksgiving) and we are taking two children with us, ages 2 and 4.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
1) You would likely have to find your own place. The rent wouldn't be bad, the problem would be the key money.
2) We were offered jobs at 4 different schools and while they did have some questions regarding how we would take care of our children, that was mainly because we are both going to be working. Having children was not an issue for us and you should have no problem because your wife is staying home with the children.

Look for a university job where you have 5 months vacation and can do camps in the summer and winter. Housing will be provided. |
