Alright, can someone PLEASE tell me where a decent place to get a haircut is in Seoul? I don't think I've had one good one since I've been here...

Korean's don't seem to understand "blend" and always want to give me the "sport"/military styles...

Can ya help an abused cranium out?

don't you hate it when they shave that line in teh bottom of your head so it looks like you're wearing a toupee from a distance?

didn't get a haircut from april onwards in korea: still haven't.

koreans may do many things well but cutting hair ain't one of them.

Clip photos out of a magazine and bring them with you to the salon (and go to a decent salon rather than a barber).

When you get an acceptable cut you can also go to the train station and have one of the 4 way polaroids for passport photos taken. One shot for the front, the sides, and the back. Bring that it to the salon and you're good as gold.

I feel like a mentally challenged person at the salon when I pull out the polaroid but it definately gets the point across of what I want done.

I've had decent haircuts at these two places (in Seoul):

Kim Sun Young

Franck Provost

Both charge 15,000 won for a cut.

The Aldo Coppola Salon in Star Tower, B1 level (Yeoksam subway station, enter Star Tower through a subway access tunnel/throughway), does a great job for both men and women. It's a little pricier at 15,000 a haircut but the peace of mind that comes from knowing you won't look like a freak afterwards is worth it.

i go to leekaja or something like that at ewha. come out of the station, walk towards the uni on the left hand side. as you reach the gates of the uni the pavement goes 90 degrees round to the left heading towards sinchon. the hair dressers is on the corner there. take a foto or aquire korean assistance. i'd loan you my girlfriend but i love her too much! In COEX there's a salon called Uno, or Uno Hair. Anyways, they do a good job and charge KW 8,000(men).

I tried to get my hair cut at the sauna- as soon as he started doing that line around the back of my head and above my ears I could tell it was going to go wrong. So I just told him to keep going and do the rest like that.

I think when I get back after Christmas I'll just bring clippers and get a friend to do it.

Hairinvito 02-561-7933. Gangnam-gu
PM me if you want the directions. A haircut costs 20,000. It takes me 3 hours to travel to his salon, but I'm not going anywhere else ever again. Five hairscuts in my city and I'm fed up. Three haircuts with him and I think of him as a prince and man, but he can cut!!!! Pil is his name.

I went to frank provost in the basement of fraser suits near insadong

good stuff,
Did great shampoo (love the head massage)
Staff speak some english
Great service
10%Discount for going on a sunday
Okish price 35k for cut and highlights.
good cut

Bad stuff
Well I went for highlights and they turn out too well as my hair went bright yellow. So now it looks like a bit like a tiger where the highlights have been put in as my natural color is too dark. Probably due to bad translation and the way my hair changes color really fast.

Overal rating B
I think I have learned my lesson, don't get your hair colored in korea.

I usually goto the same place all the time. I have been going to the same place for 4yrs. Funny is the place has changed names once, owners three times. My stylist has changed like 3-4 times too. I just get a new one once the rotation hits. The place hires really good hairstylists...they understand my crap instructions. Only had a problem once, they cut it too short, but everyone else loved it.

I goto Lee Ka Ja
