I'm currently living in another Asian country teaching and am looking to move to Korea between October and January.

*Before going any further I want to explain I have been looking for similar answers to my questions for a while and apologize if i missed a previous thread in my massive search. Secondly please do not tell me to go elsewhere, wait for a public school placement or not come. I am coming to Korea at that time for some personal reasons too*

As i'm in another country it makes the document process a little harder, however I have seen some possible loop holes, but of course with conflicting and often dated info. I hope someone can please clarify

1) I of course will need in advance, a criminal record check and apostilled copy of my degree. While I have that I now need a copy to go through the process. My city has a consulate who can certify and then legalise the document (UK consulate) however the legalising is not the same as an apostille on paper but does the same job....can I use my consulate legalising service or do I need to send the copy to the UK and back and an annoying extra expense that I could do with out. (of course the questions applies to the criminal record check too of course). I don't want to cut corners and find things are not accepted

2) When it comes to visa obtainment, I will need to go to the Korean embassy/ consulate. Can I do this before going home? This is almost a pointless question as I will have a few weeks to hit the london embassy, its just out of the way from home so doing the final visa stuff here would be a lot easier.

Hopefully someone can answer those questions for me. Also if anyone knows good Hagwon (sounds like a joke here) or alternative jobs going around October - January for an experienced teacher with all the trimmings, I would be interested

1) you have 3 choices for legalization:
a) get an apostille,
b) get an apostille or
c) get an apostille.

Pick one or it will be rejected and you get to start again.

2) Any Korea consulate will suffice. Pick the one that is most convenient for you AFTER you obtain your visa confirmation number.

3) "Good hagwon" is an oxymoron.
