I have two friends who are thinking about coming over to teach a winter camp. I was wondering if anyone knew of Hogwons that are looking to fill positions at the moment.

Ideally, they'd want to be in Bucheon, and are hoping to find a gig that provides airfare compensation.

I appreciate any help!

Thanks

Tell them to peruse 'Dave's' Korean Job Board.

Airfare for a camp? Ha! Don't hold your breath. They would like to teach illegally as well, correct?

Some camps will provide airfare. However, with the skyrocketing price of tickets it's becoming less common. And if they do, they're going to make sure they get their money's worth...

Check out this crap fest:

* Position : Teaching English at Winter Camp.

* Location : Slave Island

* Students : Elementary / Middle school students

* Class size : 1-20 students

* Work period

- 5 weeks camp : Dec.31st, 08 ~ Feb.2nd, 09

- 6 weeks camp : Dec.24th, 08 ~ Feb.2nd, 09

- 9 weeks camp : Dec.24th, 08 ~ End of Feb, 09
* Work hours : 9am ~ 9pm (Mon ~ Sun)

: Break time included

: 6 class hours a day

* Salary /month, Korean won :

- 5 weeks : 2,750,000 Korean won

- 6 weeks : 3,300,000 Korean won

- 9 weeks : 4,950,000 Korean won

* Visa Type : C4

* Vacation :

- 5 weeks camp(1day) : 4pm, Jan.13th, 09 ~ 4pm, Jan.14th, 09

- 6 weeks camp (2days) : 4pm, Dec.31st, 08 ~ 4pm, Jan.1st, 09

: 4pm, Jan.13th, 09 ~ 4pm, Jan.14th, 09

- 9 weeks camp (9days) : 4pm, Dec.31st, 08 ~ 4pm, Jan.1st, 09

: 4pm, Jan.13th, 09 ~ 4pm, Jan.14th, 09

: 4pm, Feb.2nd, 09 ~ 4pm, Feb. 4th, 09

: 4pm, Feb.10th, 09 ~ 4pm, Feb. 15th, 09

* Accomodation : share with another teacher

* Food : provide Korean food 3meals a day except vacation days.

* Airfare :

- From USA, Canada, UK : 1,500,000 KRW,

- From Australia, New Zealand : 1,200,000 KRW,

- From Asia : 700,000 KRW

- From Korea : 600,000 KRW

For example, a 5-week camp would require 12-hour work days, 7 days a week with a total of one 24-hour period of rest. That's 408 hours at work, theoretically. An instructor flying from the peninsula would pocket at least half of the 600,000 KRW offered for airfare, bringing the total payment to around 3.1 million won. For 7600 won an hour I think I'll stay in bed during vacation. Rolling Eyes
Do suckers actually take these jobs? Laughing
