I'm looking to buy a suit during the next couple of weeks, something decent, but not too expensive. I'm not interested in getting a suit made in Itaewon, before anyone chips in.

I'd appreciate any recommendations on places in Seoul where I might be able to find something.

Thanks.

The bigger problem is finding a suit off of the rack that fits. Korean men usually don't have very wide shoulders.

i bought a suit off the rack last week in the hyundai department store (mokdong). there was a whole floor practically devoted to it and i felt a lot safer buying there than itaewon. thankfully i'm about the same size as koreans so the suit fits well.

hyundai, shinsegae will all have a bunch of shops. you could try the outlet places like gasan digital complex too.

what's your budget like?

I haven't really set a budget, but would like to keep it within reason. I'm not sure what the prices are like here. Would I be able to find something decent within the 150-300,000 won range, or is that too little?

you should have no problem getting a suit. But for that amount you can get a nicer one made custom.

Check out Zara in myongdong. In the rest of the world Zara sells trendy suits for fairly reasonable prices. Not sure about Korea mind you.

No offense chris, and I was a fan of Zara about 3 years ago, but their clothes have gone very much down in quality over the past few years to the point that uniqlo pwn them.

If I were you, if you are vacationing in China or anywhere else that has a Marks and Spencers (there is one here in Busan) I'd pick up a suit from there.

Bought my suit jacket from there a year and 2 months ago and wore it hard and I smoke, stay out till 6am like a trooper and wear it to work and it still looks brand new. Amazing fit too, they really have a wide range of different fits, so almost as good as tailor made.

Also Korean tailors are pretty decent if you don't try to lowball them on price. You lowball and they will lowball you on quality. But if you're willing to shell out, they WILL do you proud.

In Thailand I always look for an Arrow shirts kiosk when buying stuff. You pay quite a bit, but they are very good quality and you get what you pay for. They sell suit jackets and pants also. Here the sizes are western.

Rather than start a new thread, I'm also open to info on where to pick up some nice ties (nothing too pricey).

Anyone had any luck at STCO, and The Shirt Company?
