I have a Sony Vaio PCG-R505EL notebook computer for sale. I live in Seoul. It is highly portable and comes with a detachable docking station which houses a CD-RW/DVD drive (without docking station it is only 1 inch thick). Also included are a Linksys wireless-G 802.11g 2.4 GHz PCMIA card and a Cables to Go 2-Port USB 2.0 "Port Authority 2" PCMIA card. Recently, the hard drive was replaced and upgraded from 30GB to 60GB. There are minor scratches on the case and two small stickers which can be removed.
Here are the specs:
Windows XP Home Edition (SP3; English w/ original CD and key)
PIII 1.13 Ghz
256 MB RAM (upgradable to 384 MB)
60 GB Hard drive
12.1" XGA
2 USB 1.0 Ports
PCMIA Port
Firewire port
Sony memory card reader
Various other ports (which are replicated on the docking station)
Battery - At this point usually lasts between 1.5 - 2 hours.
AC Adapter

I'm asking 325,000 Won or best offer.
PM or call 010-8050-6314 for more info. |
325,000 won????
Seems way too much for an extremely outdated computer that will have a difficult time running even basic programs let alone XP.
It's recommended that XP is run with AT LEAST 512MB. Most people have 1-2GB.
Also, 1.13GHz of processing power is going to crash /lock very often when trying to do even basic mutitasking. |

DCJames:
I am not making any unreasonable claims about what you can do with the machine. I did not test this computer in any way to see if it can run certain software, nor have I the technical expertise to recommend what you or anyone else might need. However, I can tell you from personal experience and claims that I can make based on my personal experience that your statements about this machine's ability to run Windows XP and multitask (without crashing or locking) are simply untrue. I've used it for years with Windows XP Home Edition and multitasked daily with programs such as Microsoft Outlook 2003, Windows Media Player playing music from an external hard drive, and Mozilla Firefox with a Wi-Fi internet connection at the same time and have experienced very few computer errors (in fact, no more than myself and friends who are using newer and much more powerful machines). My Vaio PCG-R505EL is a simple, no-frills, highly portable computer that offers the flexibility lost with some smaller devices (ever try to edit a spreadsheet or read a chart on a PDA? It's not easy! and with the docking station you have the option of creating CD-R/RWs and watching DVDs). I replaced the only part that gave me trouble and that was the hard drive. This device has limitations, like any other device, and I honestly state its specs. The claim that "most people have 1-2 GB" of RAM may or may not be true, but I certainly didn't have 1-2 GB of RAM when I was using my computer with Windows XP and typing and emailing reports and what not. The computer I am selling is obviously not a multimedia station that can play a video and run lots of other programs simultaneously in many windows. And yet I still enjoyed my music or streaming Daily Show video from Comedy Centrals website. This computer is obviously not capable of running a game on one monitor while running many other programs on another monitor. And yet I have had an external monitor attached in order to give me a larger desktop space when I was using it as a part of a home office.
Also, "or best offer" and "call for more information" are certainly within the realm of possibilities. If you have a question or want to make an offer, by all means, please do so! I'm simply comparing prices and stating facts like any other honest person who is trying to sell an item that they no longer need. I tried to put all of the pertinent information in my original post, such as software included (Windows XP Home Edition and the latest Sony drivers for the PCG-R505EL and Linksys wireless card), processor speed, RAM, hard drive capacity, LCD, and some other important tidbits. Perhaps there is more information that you need before you can make an offer? Just call me or PM me (it seems that I can reply to PMs, I just can't start one until I've posted enough times). I will be happy to offer you my personal experience with the machine and answer specifics about features. |
