I thought I had my heater thing figured out, but this morning when I tried to get hot water it wouldnt work. A few seconds after you turn it on the screen starts flashing 01. I have no idea what that means. Anybody else know?? This is my model:

Did you check the boiler to make sure it has water in it? Should be dial on the front of your boiler. If there is not water in it the dial will be on zero. The arrow should be somewhere between one and two. A lot of times they have a leak and without water in the tank they won't heat. If it is out of water there is a little brass spiket on the bottom you need to open to fill it. The only other problem I have ever had with a boiler here is air in the lines and someone would have to fix that.

It's either a pilot light/flame or a turned-off gas problem (if it's your hot water to the shower and sink). If your floor won't heat up, then it's likely that either the water tank inside of the ondol box needs refilling, or you simply need to call service to figure out what else it could be.

Usually, a hot water problem is really a pilot light issue. A simple system reset might remedy your problem. First, look for your ondol boiler box outside and see if there is a way to reset it (probably a reset switch on the outside of the big boiler box). Some boilers require you to take off the outer box cover to see the reset switch (most Rinnai models). If that doesn't work, call someone... your gas is probably off. See here for pics and more info about these beasts:

I think I see your reset switch on the black/grey box at the bottom right. It's a little white switch. There isn't going to be a dial inside of that big box, most likely. Turn the switch off a few seconds, then on again. See if that works.

It looks to me like it was last serviced a year ago, and has had service every 2 years since purchased... looks like a 2004 model or so. That's not too old. Try the above suggestion, and if it doesn't work, call someone.

Is the gas to your stove working? If that's off, you know it's a gas problem. Otherwise, if you can't figure it out, call your boss.

I checked the service manual on my boiler, which is the same brand as yours (Kiturami). A 01 error code means the reset/power button was tripped. This can happen due to a variety of reasons (power spike, etc.). It said to turn off the internal boiler power switch (as I mentioned earlier) and back on again.

I have the same problem (01 AND 97 blinking), and I've been doing what Bassxpander suggested (flipping the switch). i've been doing this for months. i had to unscrew the face on the boiler and flip the switch.

the thing is, EVERY time i start it it blinks '01' or '97', without fail, after about 1 minute. then i reset it, and it's fine indefinitely, as long as I don't run the water. after starting the shower, however, it cuts out after the water has been running for five minutes, and every time i get out of the shower it's blinking "01" again, but i've become a master at the 5 minute shower.

my advice though is to get some Korean buddy to help you talk to your landlord about fixing it though. it was fine in the summer when the heat was not needed but, as the Starks say, Winter is Coming.

jkelly, you should have called service a long time ago. Call service and STOP resetting it.

97 says it's shutting down due to a gas leak!

Glad to help.

Because these things run on gas, it's best to ask for help if you don't know what you're doing. I only learned this much from watching ajoshi work on mine over the past 6 years, and my wife telling me what the manual says. Laughing

I had my co teacher call, but it was the gas company. Any idea as to where I can find the service #? Do I have to ask my building manager?

It's either a gas or carbon monoxide leak issue, according to your error code. Call the service guy... that's who you need first.

That's the problem, the number on the boiler is for the gas company, not for the service guy. Would it be on the manual?
