|
|
Looking for the advice of people who have done this before...
I know that Korea Post will ship packages of up to 20 kg for 48,000 won, but is there a size restriction? I've got a very large bag I'd like to send home, but I can't find any size restrictions on the website (and I dread trying to communicate my wishes in Korean down at the post office).
I can't find any information on the website.
So here's my question. Is it possible to send a large piece of luggage by post? Are there any changes in charges due to size? Does it have to be wrapped up or stuffed in a box? Is there perhaps a posted guideline of package dimensions?
Thanks for any and all help. |

You can ship anything large. I know people that have gotten an entire Cargo Container so that they could ship their entire apartment furniture. |

Thanks. Cargo containers aside, do the rates change based on dimensions, or is it all based on weight? |

at Korea post the maximum (for international shipping) size is:
width + width + height + height + length =2 meters or less.
basically, wrap your measuring tape around the box, then add the length.
If it is less than 2 meters you can ship it internationally by post.
If it is MORE THAN 2 meters you will have to ship it by an alternative method like air freight or FEDEX if it is worth the expense.

Ah, wonderful information. Thank you. (Now if only I had a tape measure...)
Would I be correct in assuming that the post offices are closed on the weekend? |

Most are closed on the weekend. There is one by Gwangwhamun that is open.
