I went for my bi annual eye exam and turns out OHIP no longer covers it (unless you're under 18, over 64, or have some medical condition). Fortunately, my work's health plan does cover it. That's a change. Glasses sure have shot up in price and health plans haven't seem to kept pace. I just got a basic pair of frames + lenses for $367. I love telling them how much glasses cost in Korea. Anyway, most plans still pay only $150-$200.

Apparently, you can pick them up off the internet for around $50 a pair.

Damn! Makes me glad I stopped wearing mine. I won't bother getting another pair until I go back to my uni (which has a school of optometry) and get them dirt cheap.

It's been like that for 3 years. Thank Dalton Mcguinty for it...
Glasses are way too expensive in Canada.

Most companies have decent vision care policies, no?

My last job in Toronto covered 500$ every three years.

Dentistry and Optometry are expensive in Ontario.

What company? My company is about 22 people and probably doesn't subscribe to a gold plated health plan.
