We've recently added more restaurants to that article:

Not too far from the brighter lights of Uijeongbu, either. |

I have a friend there and he hates it. I will be visiting him for the first time on Monday so can give a better impression after that...
Anyway.. the people are all very nice, but the town is small and has poor transport links. He hates buses and so spends a fortune on cabs to Uijeongbu every friday and saturday, or books into a hotel.
Sure, it is close to Uijeongbu which is always nice, but it is not a short journey. Travelling by bus or cab can take anything from 20 to 45mins depending on traffic. And then if you want to hit Seoul there is another 60-90 mins by subway.
He has found 1 friendly bar (that does not require a food purchase) and he has located a gym, but has not seen any other foreigners so is pretty lonely out there.
Sorry I couldn't be more positive about the place, but I can only report what I know... I will come back here Tuesday and let you know my own impressions of the place. |

There are lots of Bangladesh people there, some of them speak English. Of course, you'll get a stigma attached to you if you make friends with them, the Koreans are terrified of them.
Pocheon is what you make of it, not much for night life, but it could be worse. There are some foreign teachers around. Learn to play computer games and download por.... movies/music on your super fast internets. |

I lived further north of Pocheon last year. Transportation was horrible. There isn't much there. It's a small town...what else can I say? I did my year and got out...
I still know lots of teachers in the area. |
