In a democracy, do the people usually get the kind of government they deserve?

People think too much of their democracies. Just as people thought to much of their particular Monarchs. We are still ruled by the nobility, but we get a bit more say in how. It's smart for the nobility too, because while they do lose some of their control, there are significantly less noble killing uprisings Smile

The general populace is not ready for a true democracy and it will be quite some time until it is.

For your questions, I think usually they do, but not in all cases.

People don't always get what they deserve, and I'm inclined to believe that democracies follow a similar path (in that regard).

democracy? show me one. just one that is actually a democracy.

lotsa folks use the word, but very few (if any) democracies out there.

which one you have in mind?

IMO "democracy" is one word we should stop using as it has lost all meaning.
