Hey folks, I have two questions:

1. I have a Toshiba Satellite 300 laptop running Vista. When I try to turn it off, it restarts. What gives? How can I turn my computer off without a forced shutdown?

2. I have a Fujifilm Finepix A120 digital camera. It will take one or two pictures, and then turn itself off without loading the last picture it took. It does this using brand new batteries as well. Ideas?

1. Click the little right arrow instead of the power symbol, then click shut down instead of restart.

2. Explain the problem better. It takes the pictures by itself, or you take them? What do you mean "without loading the last picture?"

1. I always do...

2. My camera is a very basic point and click. When you take the picture, you hear a little click and the flash goes off. Then it briefly shows you the picture you took on the lcd screen, and then it's ready to take the next picture.
So far it will click, flash, and shut off. When you turn it back on and try to see your pictures in playback mode, the last picture you took is not there.

I hope I'm explaining that all right...

1. Interesting. Does it give you the "computer not shut down properly" screen when it restarts? You'll probably need to google the problem.

2. Ah, okay if you said "without saving" instead of "loading" I probably would have understood you the first time. Are you doing ANYTHING different before it takes the one that shuts down? Changing settings? Zooming a different amount? Changing mode? Enable/disable the flash? Or is it exactly the same? Also, is the amount of pictures you get before it happens consistent, or does it vary?

1. Thanks, I'll hit up google. Sometimes I have to start it in safe mode, shut it down and start it up in regular mode, but then sometimes it's fine and starts normally. Interestingly, when I shut it down from safe mode, it stays off.
Last night when I shut it off, it went into hibernation, and wouldn't come out of it. I tried putting it in hibernation earlier in the evening, and it wouldn't come out of it either.

2. The only thing I can think of that's different is I'm using regular batteries instead of rechargeables. Do you think that would make a difference? It's always 1 or 2 pictures, maybe 3 at the most before it shuts off.

1. Still didn't actually answer the question, but from what you said I'm guessing the answer is "sometimes." I was going to hazard a guess at a cheap power supply if the answer was "yes." Google it I guess.

2. It shouldn't unless the voltages are different. You can double check them, but I very much doubt that's the case. This one is a weird problem too. Power inconsistencies does sound like like the place to start. I would also try taking a look at where the batteries go in and make sure there isn't any junk in there that's preventing a good connection. (I'm assuming you've tried more than one set of batteries of course.)
