i'm having troubles with my computer. i had a new motherboard put in and now i think it's unable to power external 2.5 inch usb harddrives.
my harddrive used to work fine, just connect it, it autodetects, and i'm good to go.
but now it's not working ... i'm fairly confident it's a power issue. it doesn't seem like there's enough power to run the external drive. being a 2.5 inch drive, it doesn't have its own power source. i even tried the double usb cables designed for laptops, but it didn't do anything.
what can i do to get my harddrives working again?? |

couple things come to mind...
1. do you have the proper motherboard drivers including the usb 2.0 driver installed for your new mobo?
2. have you tried plugging it into any and all available usb ports?
3. i know that this is a no-brainer, but is the power switch on the hdd enclosure turned 'on'? |
