I am interested in extending my contract at the high school I am working at. I asked my coteacher about this and he said that the contract extension talks normally come up in late November or December. Is this usually the case? I'm asking because my friend was asked to extend her contract back in August (but she is also at a private school).

It all depends on each school. Last year I didn't get my renewal finalized until the last week of December. Just yesterday though, the VP asked me to stay on for another year.

When do contract renewals happen for EPIK teachers? Does anyone know what the renewal process involves? Thanks!

Some time in late Dec (if you are a march renewal) or about 60 days before your contract ends you should broach the subject if you haven't been already asked to stay on.

If you have indicated that you intend to stay they may assume it as a fact and not do anything until Feb when they finally have to get the paper work going before your visa expires.

Be proactive. Get the paper work done 60 days before. You can also extend your status up to 60 days prior to the expiry of your ARC and add up to 1 full year to your ARC.

.
