I will finish my contract in December. I came in under the new regulations. I submitted my criminal history check when I got my visa last year. Will I need to have a new criminal history check for a new E2? I am staying at the same school. I have read here before that you only have to submit it once. If anyone can point me to a link or Korean Immigration site that says that it is not necessary, that would be great. |

It all depends on whether or not you are a Canadian citizen or not. If you are American you are fine. Canadian right now are having SERIOUS problems with immigration simply because the RCMP has refused the ROK's ministry of justice to do fingerprinting here. The Canadian government doesn't exactly trust the justice system here.
If you are a Canadian and are moving schools YOU WILL be asked for a new VSS to be done. This will take 4 months at current to process. This is a statement directly from the Canadian Embassy.
mods sticky this please!! |

I am about to change jobs. I asked immigration directly just a few days ago (I am a New Zealander) and they said:
If the contract is signed before the old one expires, just a CRC.
If the contract is signed after the old one expires, the whole lot, CRC, transcripts, degree etc all again.
By god this red tape is a total waste of time. Why do I need a new CRC? I've been in Korea the whole time? Why would I need new transcripts/degree again? I'd try with fakes this time? Stupid.... |

Changes have been made to immigration policy this September and immigration forgot to inform the embassies.
You're right look at Korea's actions and you can see that they rather make things more difficult for themselves and other people.
They really are being stupid aren't they. |

According to the Winnipeg police it will take 10 business days to process...Add another two weeks or so to get the application there from Korea and the form back...I don't see it taking longer than a month or there abouts.
I've always found the Canadian Embassy here to be rather useless. I wouldn't rely on them to know too much other then when their next coffee break is. |

What's this all about now? I was given notice at my current job and want to get a new one. My current job started in July and I submitted a criminal certificate and all my other documents. I figued that I'd be ok to find a new job since immigration have my criminal certificate and I have a sealed transcript. My current job's contract ends July 1, 2009, but I was given a month's notice this week. They're paying for up to December 15th on November 28th and I don't have to work in December. My boss told me he'd go into immigration with me to cancel my visa. I thought everything was going to be ok.
Huh? |

You don't need to go to the RCMP, your local is fine. I went to the RNC here in Newfoundland, it was less than 2 weeks and the consulate had no problem with it. |
