I am in Seoul, Korea and would like to begin my job search.

I have emailed some ads from Dave's and WorknPlay, but I was wanting to apply for positions in person as I have a lot of free time. But since I can't read Korean, I'm wondering how I can go about doing this.

So if anyone can provide me with directions or possibly an area with a high concentration of hagwons that would be great. I'm hoping to work in the Hongdae/Sinchon area, but would also consider working in Kangnam.

thanks again

There is no "collection." Know a current teacher or location, or go through a recruiter.

Take any bus heading to Shinchon/Hongdae/Ewha and get off when you hear the annoying 'learn English a better way...Wall Street Institute' ad pumped over the speakers. Man, I hate that!

Anyway, I think there's PAGODA between HongDae and Shinchon. Just walk around and ask some people. You might find some smaller places, too. I've seen a kiddy hakwon (big name, but can't remember it!) down the road from HongDae closer to Hapchong Station.

Happy hunting. Sorry that you're thinking about a hakwon, though.

A lot of teachers want to work there, so there seems to be less demand for teachers near Sinchon. I wasn't able to find anything even worth applying for in that area a couple of months, but better luck to you.

There's a horrible SLP in hongdae if you're desperate.

well this is my first time teaching so i'd like to go with a hagwon since they are smaller classrooms.

I saw a Pagoda ad in the sinchon subway station...would it be normal to call them and ask if they are hiring or should I walk in?

directions to the SLP in hongdae?
