I used the new (or newly functioning) hikorea.go.kr website, to do the temporary extension of my visa between the end of my E2 and my departure date.
It was a simple enough process. Signed up, clicked the relevant e-application, attached a .jpg of my flight e-ticket and submitted it. They sent another email yesterday saying that my request has been granted. Fair enough, but do i need to print something out? Something to present when I leave the country? Or do they have it on their computer somewhere for the immigration officer to check when I leave?
Anyone have some insight? I'll give the 1345 number a call again if I must but my last contact with the operator was a little trying. Maybe she wasn't listening to me, maybe I've forgotten how to speak English (unlikely) but we both got really annoyed with each other.
Thanks a lot. If it is as simple as it all seems, this new website makes things much easier for people who don't live close to their immigration office. |

| I actually used it recently. You need to print out the "Certificate of Permission for e-Application" document and present it when you check-in at the airport and when you leave through immigration. If you log in, go under "My Page" -> "Status of applications" -> "Temporary extension of stay..." and look under Progress, the last line should have a Certificate button under Print. Just print out that document and you're good to go. |

I also used this service recently, but did not print out the e-certificate. It was touch and go at immigration - the guy at the desk didn't know what to do. Luckily his supervisor happened to be with him at the time, and was a bit more clued up. She stamped my pasport and wrote something about the re-entry being on the internet. It was no problem coming back.
They are able to check on their computers, but whether they are capable of doing so is another matter. I got lucky. To avoid the hassle I went through -admittedly of my own making - follow soohak's advice and print out the e-cert. |

I used it (piece of cake) and everything was fine until...
I tried to check-in at ICN and had to deal all the K-idiots. I couldn't get boarding passes and K-Immi officers tried to fine me (twice - long story) for 'overstaying' even though I had a copy of the confirmation of extension. This was Aug. 2007 |
