It never really occurred to me until a huge swarm of Japanese students were at my High School today.

Koreans have been saying this since I've been here, and I didn't notice any major difference in Japan except from the fact that people were shorter, but now it seems very obvious. Crazy.

Japanese seem to have lighter hair, from what I've noticed. And better style.

I didn't spend much time with the students, nor did I spend a lot of time with Japanese people in Japan, but I did notice that the cultural differences were pretty vivid.

As in, all of my students were awestruck by the Japanese students, followed them around, practiced Japanese on them, etc. The Japanese students thought they were lame, thought they were "too cool for school", and they sported pink-hair with custom-altered uniforms. From that brief impression, part of me decided that I like Korean students better.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say that but never got an explanation.

I think the dental costs are very high there, it's probably why.

I'm not sure what the classic Korean look is.

I know when I look in the crowd I see some faces that have a classic Mongol look and some with Japanese features. I live in Masan and I see a lot of people with what I call classic Indian features, they don't necessarily look Indian but they have certain features I attribute to Indian bloodlines.

Also skin tone amongst Koreans seems much more varied than in other Asian countries.

Very simple.

Plaid sweaters. Scrunchies in the Hair. Slacks and Penny Loafers. Korean.

Fucked up. Japanese.

Even when I was in Korea, I could SPOT a JAPANESE person from a MILE AWAY!

I always had a hard time spotting the Chinese person though.

So many differences between Koreans and Japanese...from hairstyles, makeup usage, clothing styles, the way they walk, etc. Almost everything is different.

I thought Korea middle schoolers were ugly, then I saw some Japanese middle school students and they looked like they were from the 70's. But somehow those girls turn out good looking later on.

Anyone who's been to Osaka knows the truth about this.
