People who want to know your life's story and why you are in Korea BEFORE THEY WILL EVEN ASK FOR YOUR NAME, OR GIVE YOU THEIR OWN NAMES.
I'm a friendly person. It's sorta lonely out here in the provinces, so maybe it's just me but I think that it's nice to know a person's name before you mine them for information.
That's all for now. |

I've been PM'd here on Dave's a few times and asked a ton of questions by people thinking of coming here. Fair enough, I used to write back and answer as best I can. Maybe over 500 word answers. You know, contract stuff, hagwon issues, living in Korea, etc.... Like 30 minutes of my time typing it out.......incredibly, at least twice, I haven't even been thanked. Never a word back.
I'm not sure I'll bother replying to those PM's again. I haven't for the last few times. |

After awhile, saying "that's none of your business" becomes easier, especially after you discover that the question is usually being asked in an attempt to pigeon-hole you.
I'm rude as Jude to fools in the subway. I don't want to talk about Jesus, and yes, my girl's nipples are poking out, why are you looking at them anyway ...
"Sang-gwon opseyo" baby ... "it means nothing to me" |

I hate it when foreigners ask me "Where are you from?" One guy I met asked me "Where are you from?" four times before he thought to ask for my name.
Does it really matter? If I'm not from the same country as you, can we not be friends? |

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it seems to me it should be up to the individual to introduce themselves. Who starts talking to someone and waits for them to ask their name?
But yeah, otherwise point taken. |
