My wife and I divorced at the weekend. It's a long story.

We got married in Korea, she was Iraqi and I am British.

Any info on what I need to do to get this marriage finished with in the U.K. and Korea, legally speaking? Because the marriage is recognized in Iraq, Korea and the U.K.

We ended the marriage, Islamically, and my ex-wife is not contesting the divorce.

Thanks.

Dunno how to help your divorce, but let me express my condolences. Hope both of you make it.

it's actually a short story, the key here is "islamically"

this means mr. fromthewaziristan said I divorce you, I divorce you and one last time I divorce you.

three times does the trick. Not sure about witnesses.

the best part is "islamically" means he is NOT going to get financially reamed by his marriage.

something to be said for that.

Again, why do people come on here to ask other foreigners' opinions on a matter when it can be EASILY figured out by simply CALLING THE EMBASSY and asking them!

In other words, you're not divorced. Check with the local legal beagles and, of course, with your respective embassies for further details.

I always though it was merely that, but perhaps I am mistaken, at least based on THIS link. Apparently you have to pay attention to her menstruation and no "parting f.u.c.k." either

here it says once is enough, and three times is a "sin"? (though this all depends on your sect, what they believe in Waziristan may the be the same as in Saudi Arabia, but different from Shiites and different from the Muslims in Indonesia.)

btw.. this link says an "Islamic divorce" isn't going to fly (at least in Korea and the UK)

What is the proper procedure of Islamic divorce?
Adil Salahi explains.

If a man wants to divorce his wife, he should make sure of the appropriate time, which is after she has finished her menstruation period and before having any sexual intercourse with her. If she is in the period or in a state of of cleanliness during which an intercourse has taken place, he should wait until the appropriate time. Then he pronounces divorce, such as saying, I am divorcing my wife --. He says this once only. If he says it three times, he commits a sin. He informs his wife of the fact so that she starts her waiting period, which extends until she has completed either three menstruation periods or three cleanliness periods. During this time, she stays with him in their family home, they use separate bedrooms. He is responsible for her upkeep, and he has the advantage of reinstating the marriage if they both agree, without having to have a new marriage contract (Nikah). If the waiting period lapses and no reunion takes place, the divorce procedure is complete and she re-joins her family. After the waiting period is over, they may still be reunited in marriage, but this will require a new contract and a new dowry, provided that this is their first or second divorce

So you got a marriage license in 3 countries? Sounds like you need to file divorce in the other 2 or just do nothing more if you're not going to the other 2 countries to live and work. (and marry!)

Its a little depressing how backwards and into mumbo-jumbo some people are in the 21st century.
