|
|
I read in other winter camp threads that if working at a university, one must obtain a letter of permission from one's university to work at a camp that is not affiliated with the university.
Is there some form letter they all use? Does it merely need to say, "We give permision for our employee to work at ABC Winter Camp from date1 to date2"?
Take that to Immigration and that's it?
My uni is currently telling me they think it's illegal, so if anyone has a link online explaining the legality, that would also be great.
Thanks,

You need a certificate of consent (동의서) from your university as well as a few things from the place you'll be working for. Take the papers to immigration and pay 60,000 won for another stamp (additional place of employement). I just picked up mine today. |

Where do I get a certificate of consent? Is this a form I can download online?
(Maybe it's in your message, Beaver, but I can't read what's in your parenthesis). |

No form. It's just a note from your school with your particulars (name, sex, date of birth, nationality, alien registration number), a little explanation about the dates and the location of the secondary place of employment, and an official school stamp all addresed to the immigration office. |

If the camp is legit and has been in operation for more than a year they should know what they need. Have a key person from the camp talk to the appropriate person at your uni. If they provide the wrong form an immigration officer can tell them what to provide. Immigration has been very helpful regarding this in the past when my university sent the wrong form. Hope this helps. |

You could ring Immigration yourself, get the name of the person you spoke to, and then go back to the person in charge at your university and say so and so said this. Please call him and find out for yourself. Your camp perhaps might want verification first from your university before they send you the relevant documents, so you might have to do a little arm twisting.
If you do get them drag one of your Korean English professors down to the administrative person at your place to help corroborate things.
To the original poster. If your camp hasn't asked you to get permission, then don't bother trying to get it. Just go to the camp. If your camp gets busted, and you are on an E-2 visa you will probably get away scot free. Immigration are pretty lenient on university teachers caught in such predicaments.
If your camp has been running for many years and you haven't been asked to get permission then someone is paying off immigration. |
