I am switching to Epik next year and was informed that
it is in my better interests if I complete a Tefl certificate.
The difference is 30 man won a month in salary, so I agree.
I saw the 100 hour i-to-i online program. Anyone get the
paper from them ? Is it decent ? |

I got this, it's pretty good but not the best. I used them because it was good value |

are online TEFL courses counted as 'proper'? i'm thinking of the i-to-i 40 hour course as it's only 175 and i don't have the time for a weekend |

Online courses are fine.
However, if it was brain-surgery I think it wouldn't suffice.
I did an i-to-i course and it was very helpful. |

The 100-hour TEFL hoop should be good. 175 pounds is a good price to pay for one of those. I took one of those month-long gigs in Thailand that ran like 1600 bucks. I even had to fly to the course on my own dime. Live and learn, boys and girls. I should have taken an online version and taken SCUBA lessons with the savings. I would have been just as well off. Actually, I would have been better off, as at least I would have my advanced open-water SCUBA certification. |

I personally had a recent reply from a person of a advisory committee ( of a TEFL course) who states the merits of the TEFL varies from country to country.
This person said also, they had only seen evidence of what happens on the course in Calcutta. That was quite impressive but he was told that other countries don't always achieve acceptable standards.
He said also that the CELTA has greater acceptance. |

I wonder if one can get a CELTA somewhere for 175 pounds? |

CRAP. Waste of time. Not taken seriously in the industry. (I'm talking outside Korea)
In any decent job you will see that 100 hr online cert does not make the grade. It's often posted as such in the ad.
Save your pennies and do a CELTA
Unless you want to VSO teach for an adventure holiday aka i-to-i programmes.
IMHO |

With respect to upgrading my qualifications, I am not seeking the telf certificate to accomplish this. I am considering a Masters program for that end.

The course 'sample' they provide on their website gave me a chuckle.
Overall, the course material is not this sesame street, is it ?
