i just watched a movie that i first saw when i was in High School. and at that time, i think, i thought it was entertaining. and me and my friends might even had some laughs while watching it . . . . but things have changed now . . . . i have changed . . . . when i saw it again it just made me cringe and feel appalled . . . .

the name of the movie "American History X"
the scene " the Curb Stomp"
note - i am not a racist even in high school - back then i just didn't comprehend the full extent or the full implicationof the word - i jsut thought they were two people fighting

can you name other viloent movie scenes that made you cringe
and i don't mean scenes from horror or thriller flicks . . .

another movie " Blood in Blood out"
the scene - the part where rival gang members attacked an enemy gang member, hoisted him in the air and dropped him on a fire hydrant back first . . .

again i am not a racist . . . this is not about race . . . it's about the violence

Not sure why you're trying to say you're not a racist. Anyway, American History X was a stupid movie that oversimplified issues and became an unwitting recruiting tool for racists.

My two scenes:

-the eye being slit open in Un chien andalou.
-the disembodied brain being stabbed by a pencil in Pi.

The Old Boy scene where the guy cuts out his tongue.

The Kill Bill scene where Kittie cuts the tendon at the back of the foot. Had no idea that was originally from the Korean movie Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.

The scene on the beach in Saving Private Ryan, starting from where the guys start puking on the boat and onto the beach front assault from lower ground. Brutal.

When I saw the title of the thread, the first scene that popped into my head was the one mentioned in American History X.

I didn't enjoy kill bill, I thought it was waaay to violent, and after a while the gratuitious violence doesn't have an effect anymore.

Have to add Ichi the Killer to the list!! It's probably one of the most depraved movies I've had the fortune/misfortune of watching!

Oh yeah, not a movie, but in a recent Heroes episode where Sylar had Claire's skull open, I was so nauseous I had to leave the room.

i think it was called "the hills have eyes"... the brutal rape scene that takes place in the rv...

reservoir dogs also... the cutting the cops ear off scene...

likewise, when i was young, i used to think these kind of movies were great... i was completely desensitized to violence and gore... as i got older, i stopped watching a lot of (american) television, especially the news, and my tolerance for violence/gore has paid the price...

i can't believe they can make movies like this, but movies about sex are so hush hush... ridiculous...

The wnd half of the movie Concrete about a few Japanese who kidnap a high school girl and abuse her.

In one scene, her face is swollen and purple. There are burn all over her arms and legs.

The boys take turn just beating the utter crap out of her. I'm talking multiple blows to the head with their fists, and kicking the **** out of her.

It was really graphic.

What makes it even more horrific is that it happened in real life.

Go watch the movie CONCRETE. It is very disturbing. 1st half not so much, the 2nd half will have you cringe!
