I just want to warn people wanting to buy used mobile phones in Korea. I post this because I don't want this to happen to others.

I bought a used phone wanting to use it as a prepaid phone. However, I couldn't use it as a prepaid because of a few reasons.

1. It was a SHOW 3G phone. The SHOW shop said that the model is not supported. So, I decided to sign up for a plan for it. BUT....

2. The previous owner (or his employer) of the phone did not pay the bill on the phone. So SHOW refused to start a new account on the phone.

Advice.
-Make sure the phone(ie model) can be used as a prepaid phone. The best is to go to the respective phone show to check if all bills are paid before handing over cash.
-SHOW/KTF/SK/LG phones only work for the same company. They are not interchangeable. Maybe SHOW and KTF can work interchangeably. Correct me if I am wrong.
-Some Korean mobile phone shops do stock cheap phones that can be used as prepaid phones. You need your passport(ARC not needed)
-Itaewon shops have quite lousy phones(for the price) and they charge an extra 10000 won as service charge.
-SK major branches can deal with registration of phones(not the SK phone shops). There's one in Gangnam and Yongsan. They are only open Mon-Fri.
-LG prepaid can be arranged at the shops in about half an hour, even on Saturdays.

I am not claiming that I know everything about mobile phones in Seoul. This is just my personal experience. Please do not give me flak if this is posted in the wrong forum. I am also not directing this to any particular seller currently. I now own a expensive used alarm clock Crying or Very sad
