Have you been reading boards like freerepublic and other right wing internet hangouts? I have. Shocked Shocked

Some scary stuff out there, there are a lot of gun happy right wingers very very angry about the election result.

I'm sure someone will try it. But if all those irate Muslim extremists couldn't take out Bush, I'd give the pissed off neo-Nazi hicks much less of a chance. Then again, Bush was very much what the worst of the Muslim terrorists needed (and vice-versa).

Actually, I do believe someone might try. There is even a slight chance they might succeed. It's not just the fact that he is black, but also has many new ideas (that seem a lot like that evil, evil idea of socialism).

Remember someone tried getting Reagan, and he's a republican.

Two separate people tried to get Ford, another Republican.

If I'm not mistaken, Jackson (1830's) was the first president who someone tried to assassinate. It's been a somewhat regular phenomenon since then.

There have been several threads on this subject already. I agree with Paji--it's needless fear-mongering. Security is no heavier (or lighter) for Obama than any other president. To suggest otherwise is to underestimate the Secret Service.

Actually it gets heavier and heavier all the time. It now takes a batallion of agents just to have the president make an appearance anywhere.

Oh, the secret service will be watching. Obama will be safe. Anyway, people know that he won't touch their guns, won't raise taxes on the middle class, so they will be fine. Anyway, Schwartzneggar just raised taxes in California. He raised the sales tax which hurts those with lower incomes.
