Whats the deal with the NDP? I think they missed a great chance to gain a significant number of seats in the past election. I know they grabbed another 7 seats at the Liberals expense, but, as a person who voted NDP i am quite disappointed with the results! I honestly thought they would become a much stronger party. I think Jack Layton is a great public speaker even though he can be very loud and unruly, much better than Harper and DIon, wow they suck at public speaking.
Do you think the NDP will ever be a legitimate party in Canadian politics ? I would say yes, because as long as this crapshoot of economic crisis continues, people are going to need a safety net and rely on the social programs that the NDP seem to want to provide.
What do you think about the Liberals and the NDP merging? Or have the liberals found themselves a little towards the center of the political spectrum, while the NDP clearly represents a leftist stance
I want to know what others think of the NDP ..
thanks for listening |

I think the NDP might have had a better chance if they allied themselves with one of the major parties...Then if they won more seats try to push there own ideas in there...I mean in the past election they didnt say they would support anyone ie form a majority government with either the cons or the libs...if they had i think more people would have voted for them...or it could back fire...
I actually live in Jack Layton's riding...A lot of Chinese there...He is married to a woman of chinese whatever you call it these days...
I think he has to also stop promising the world to the canadian people...He makes a lot of promises which are really too good to be true...
Also he should have made more attacks on Harper if he was going to win more seats...not on the liberals...He sees his party as a major player when they are not there yet |

The NDP gained power in Ontario and demonstrated they couldn't govern. |

What they need to do is merge with the Liberal party, and unite the (somewhat) left, in order to get the Conservatives out of power for good. |

Saskatchewan too.
Layton is a wingnut with radical ideals; the NDP will always be a fringe party. |

The Saskatchewan CCF-NDP was in power for 47 of the last 65 years. Not bad for a party allegedly incapabale of governing.

There's a lot of interests in Canada who would keep the NDP out of federal power as much as they can. I'm just saying. Canada's not the US, but we're pretty close. |
