|

I sent my contract, CRC, etc to my recruiter on Monday.
I'm concerned about the job, but the main problem is that my husband can't join me until Jan or Feb. So I've decided I want to wait until we can go together and we're going to try to start on March 1st.
Can I postpone my application? According to UPS my parcel should be delivered today...
Or will this make it harder for me to be accepted (by EPIK) again?
If it is, oh well. I just have really bad feelings about this job at this time, and I've got to go with my gut. |

It won't make any difference to anyone but your recruiter who is not going to get his commission if you don't get on the plane.
You may have to get a complete set of new documents since the recruiter may very well NOT return the ones you sent to him. |

Coming here in sequence might actually be better. Instead of both of you getting stuck at a bad school, only one will. If you come together, then it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. However, if you can find a school looking for a couple, then that might work out.
I worked at a hagwon during the summer and 2 couples worked there. One couple left due to religious reasons (they didn't want to teach after sunset on Fridays, lol), and the other are leaving this month I think to travel. However, when the first couple left, the hagwon didn't pay any of the staff (12 korean teachers included) for one month's pay. That obviously caused some friction and the second couple decided to plan their exit.
So, that's another concern. If the school is bad, and you both work there, then you will get hit twice when things go bad. |

Yeah, we worked at a bad hagwon before and it sucked.
We're trying for public schools, so hopefully it'll be a little more bearable.
Thank you ttompatz, that's really reassuring; I'm not too concerned about my documents, I already have extra copies of it all. I might just have to get a newer CRC, not the end of the world.
If for some reason they've already started the visa process am I screwed? I doubt they have since they just got the stuff today... but what if they were really keen and got it this morning and already submitted it? Or is that way too fast? |

If they have already applied for your visa confirmation number then you may have to wait 90 days after it is issued (until it expires).
If you get a letter of invitation (instead of the visa confirmation number) the wait time will be the same (90 days).
In both cases this will still put you in line for a March start so no big worry.
