I'm planning on travelling around china for 3-6 weeks next march/aplril when i finish my contract. I'm an irish citizen so i'm not sure what i need to do to get the relevant visa. If anybody has travelled to china this year could they advise me on my options and what was required for your visa.
I tried calling the chinese emabassy in ireland but couldn't get to talk to anybody. Should i call chinese embassy in seoul? |

Uh, yes. Why call halfway around the world? In general it takes about 3 business days. You can only apply for the visa in the morning at the embassy. A regular visa is good for only one month. For prices in UK pounds, go here: http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/lsyw/chivisa/aa/t514391.htm
Here's the info for the embassy in Seoul:
http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/wjb/zwjg/2490/2491/t14387.htm It's up towards Namsan from Myeongdong subway station. As a matter of fact, it's practically next door to the bottom of the Namsan tram, although not on the same road. |

You can also get a travel agent to arrange the visa for you. I went to China in July, and I used Soho Travel to get my Chinese visa. It cost 50,000 won. I don't live in Seoul, so I couriered my passport to them, and they couriered it back to within the same week with the visa.
You can check out their visa service here:
http://www.sohoholiday.com/visa_information
I only needed my passport, a photo and a copy of my ARC. I arranged my flights through Soho Travel, so if there was a requirement for flights and accommodation details, I never heard about it. |
